PROJECT MANAGEMENT (FOR BUYERS)
This course introduces Project Management and its relationship to Purchasing Management. It identifies the tools and techniques to resolve problems associated with bringing projects in on time and within an established budget. Discussion will include topics such as project scheduling, PERT/CPM, resource leveling, team dynamics and cost estimates. The student will learn how to develop project proposals and project reports.

This module covers the ability and responsibility of project managers to convert management plans and client contracts into modules of action and projects that deliver services or goods. The problems associated with aligning resources and capabilities of the project manager's organization with the needs of the client are examined. The module will cover in detail the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) as promulgated by the Project Management Institute.
PMGT 605 Project Scope Management
This module describes the processes required to ensure that the project includes all the work required, and only the work required, to complete the project successfully. It covers the initiation, scope planning, scope definition, scope verification, and scope change control.
PMGT 606 Project Time Management
This module describes the processes required to ensure timely completion of the project. It covers activity definition, activity sequencing, activity duration estimating, schedule development, and schedule control.
PMGT 607 Project Quality Management
This module describes the processes required to ensure that the project will satisfy the needs for which it was undertaken. It covers quality planning, quality assurance, and quality control.
PMGT 608 Project Communications Management
This module describes the processes required to ensure timely and appropriate generation, collection, dissemination, storage, and ultimate disposition of project information. It covers communications planning, information distribution, performance reporting, and administrative closure.
PMGT 609 Project Human Resource Management
This module describes the processes required to make the most effective use of the people involved with the project. It covers organizational planning, staff acquisition, and team development.
PMGT 610 Project Cost and Risk Management
This module describes the processes required to ensure that the project is completed within the approved budget. It covers resource planning, cost estimating, cost budgeting, and control. It also covers the processes concerned with identifying analyzing, and responding to project risk and covers risk identification, risk quantification, risk response development, and risk response control.
PMGT 611 Project Procurement (and Contract) Management
This module describes the processes required to acquire goods and services from outside the performing organization. It covers procurement planning, solicitation planning, solicitation, source selection, contract administration, and contract close-out.
PMGT 612 Project Integration Management
This module describes the processes required to ensure that the various elements of the project are properly coordinated. It covers project plan development, project plan execution, and overall change control.
