IPSCMI Expert - Thomas L. Tanel

THOMAS L. TANEL, C.P.M., CTL, CCA, CISCM has an international reputation as a Subject Matter Expert, Consultant, and Seminar Leader in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Purchasing and Procurement, and Distribution and Transportation.  With more than 35 years of experience, he offers a seasoned perspective on through his line, teaching, staff, and consulting positions.

Mr. Tanel is President, CEO, and founding Principal of CATTAN Services Group, Inc., a logistics advisory, counseling and training firm.  His previous organizational experience was with Federated Department Stores, Department of the Army, United Van Lines, Tracy-Hayden Associates, Ray Nelson Associates, and Bradalano Corporation.  He is on both the Warehousing Education and Research Council’s and the Southwest Supply Chain Forum’s Education Committees.  Tom is also on the Editorial Advisory Board of the Distribution Center Management newsletter and on the Board of Advisers for the Purchasing-Procurement Center.

Designated as a Lifetime Certified Purchasing Manager by the Institute of Supply Management, Thomas is currently Chair for the ISM’s Logistics and Transportation Group and holds ISM-New Jersey’s Certificate of Service.  He has held many key offices for the Purchasing Management Association (PMA) of Central Jersey and has served as a member of both the American Purchasing Society’s Executive Committee and Education Committee.  Additionally, Mr. Tanel is a Certified Cost Analyst through the Institute of Cost Analysis and a Professional Member of the World Future Society.

Having been Certified in Transportation and Logistics, he has served as Director of Education for the American Society of Transportation and Logistics.  He is a recipient of a number of prestigious honors, including the Transportation Management Field Award and the Physical Distribution Field Award, bestowed by the Society of Logistics Engineers (SOLE), as well as the Advanced Professional Designation in Logistics Management, jointly conferred by the Air Force Institute of Technology and SOLE.  Tom is a Fellow of the North American Academy of Arts and Sciences and is a Certified in International Supply Chain Manager through the American Certification Institute.  Mr. Tanel holds a Bachelor of Arts from St. John’s University and an MBA with concentration in logistics from the Florida Institute of Technology.
