GEORGE YARUSAVAGE, C.P.M., CTL, CPIM has a well deserved reputation as a Consultant and Educator in the fields of Supply Chain Management; Logistics; Traffic and Transportation; Purchasing and Procurement; and 3PL Outsourcing.  He has held a number of transportation, logistics, and purchasing management positions through his 35-year career of line, staff, consulting, and education activity. 

George is an Executive Consultant with CATTAN Services Group, Inc.  His expertise includes establishing the first NBC Olympics Technical Logistics Department; conducting carrier negotiations, developing and managing resulting contracts; managing “TRIAD” multi-company negotiation and contracting programs; pioneering inbound collect transportation and auto rental, airline, credit card, hotel, and travel agency purchasing program management; and leading a team effort to design a generic air shipment tendering system and a consensus-based interdivisional carrier selection process.

Mr. Yarusavage has a BS in Logistics from Penn State University and an MBA from New York University.  He has earned three prestigious logistics certifications: the CTL (Certified in Transportation & Logistics) from the American Society of Transportation & Logistics (AST&L), the CPIM (Certified in Production & Inventory Management) from the American Production & Inventory Control Society (APICS), and his lifetime C.P.M. from the Institute of Supply Management (ISM).  He was also a Registered Practitioner before the Interstate Commerce Commission prior to its termination.

Mr. Yarusavage’s line experience includes progressively responsible positions as Manager of Logistics, Manager of Transportation Procurement, Director of Technical Logistics, Manager of Sourcing Projects, Corporate Manager of Transportation, Manager of Domestic Air Contracting, Coordinator of Transportation, and Transportation Pricing Analyst.  His career spans service with M-real USA Corp.; Verizon Wireless; NBC Olympics Inc.; NBC Corporate; GTE Corporation; General Electric Company Corporate; and Continental Forest Industries.  George has the unique distinction of returning to three of his former employers: NBC, GTE/Verizon, and Continental Forest Industries.

George’s professional activities have included holding various local and national offices in a number of professional organizations.  Presently, he is AST&L’s Vice Chairman and has previously served as President, Chairman, Secretary, and Program VP with that organization.  He is also currently the Secretary and Education Chair of the NYCONN Roundtable of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals; the Treasurer & President Emeritus of ISM-7 Counties; and the 2nd Vice Chair of ISM’s Logistics and Transportation Group.  His honors include: 2005 ”Innovation” Person of the Year by the ISM NY/NJ Forum, Co-Recipient of the 2001 AST&L “Logistics Partnership Award,” one of the “Top 20 Logistics Executives of 2000,” winning an Emmy for his part in the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games, and the 1992 AST&L Industrial Traffic Management Specialty Award.  Currently, he is a Principal in Fortress Consulting.

A frequent speaker at national, regional, and local CSCMP, AST&L, and ISM meetings, George Yarusavage has also been a Guest Lecturer for the Logistics Certificate Program of Burlington County College, the Supply Chain MBA Program of the Penn State’s Smeal Business College, the Logistics Certificate Programs at Northeastern University and CUNY, and the Service and Administrative Institute.
